Three of our Sales Consultants from Ron Brooks Mansfield have completed an 18 mile charity walk from Chesterfield to Mansfield, raising money for Comic Relief as part of our activities for Red Nose day 2015.
From the left on the image above, Rob, James and Alex set off from the Crooked Spire in Chesterfield at 6am on Monday 23rd of February 2015, walking all the way from that famous landmark to our showroom 18 miles away in Mansfield – 7 hours later.
The long and arduous journey began in the early hours of the morning, with the freezing temperatures taking their toll on Alex, who slipped on the icy ground and injured his arm and back early on. The weather was against the trio too, with them experiencing “all four seasons in one day” including rain, wind and snowy conditions.
As you can see from the photos, the (extremely hilly) route took them through Corbriggs, Heath, Stainsby, Ault Hucknall, Glapwell, Pleasley and the centre of Mansfield to reach the dealership which is located on Oak Tree Lane, just off Southwell Road West. It total James recorded that he’d done a grand total of 45,431 steps – more than 4 times your recommended daily amount. They were greeted with a round of applause from staff members, as well as a much-needed cup of coffee.
Alex said “We’re glad to have finally made it to the dealership. It seemed like a good idea at the time but just after the half way mark we were beginning to change our minds. We’re just happy to have raised some money for Red Nose Day. My feet are killing”.
James said “I enjoyed it actually. I wouldn’t want to do it every day, mind. Looking forward to a long hot bath this evening – I’ve done over 45,000 steps! I’m pleased we’ve raised a good amount for Comic Relief”.
Rob, who actually drove from Nottingham to Chesterfield in the small hours of the morning just to take part in the sponsored walk, said “I wasn’t feeling too bad actually until I sat down. Now my body has gone totally stiff and I’m struggling to move! I’m glad the money raised is going to a good cause”.
Thanks to their combined efforts, Rob James and Alex have added a healthy £433 towards our total fundraising target of £3,875. We’d like to congratulate them on a job well done.
