Toyota have been awarded a hat-trick of awards that recognise their commitment to leading the automotive industry in terms of green-technology including Hybrid & Hydrogen vehicles.
Prius named Best Economical Car…
First award goes to the all-new Prius, which is still the benchmark for environmental motoring 19 years after the original Prius launched. Now in its fourth generation, the Prius offers best-ever fuel economy figures of 94.2mpg combined (on 15-inch wheels) and CO2 emissions so low that it is currently exempt from the London Congestion Charge. Well-respected car review website Car Buyer named the Prius as its Best Economical Car for 2016, saying:
“Few cars offer better mpg figures than the Toyota Prius, which is capable of a remarkable 94.2mpg in ideal conditions. Out in the real world, figures of 70-80mpg should be easy to achieve, numbers that were unthinkable just a few short years ago.

“Away from those figures, there’s still much to praise the Prius for: it’s comfortable, well priced and, if you choose a model with 15-inch wheels, it’s exempt from the London Congestion Charge.”
The all-new Prius, launched earlier in 2016, has produced the greatest imrpovement in fuel-efficiency and CO2 emissions of any previous model, an improvement seen not just in the official testing conditions but also in real-world driving too, with the car operating on electric power alone for a much higher percentage of journeys than before.

…And Green Car of the Year
The Prius has also been named “Green car of the Year” in the Women’s World Car of the Year awards, whose panel is made up of female motoring journalists from across the globe. They judged the Prius against hundreds of competitors based on criteria that are most important to female drivers.
Toyota named Fleet Car Manufacturer of the Year
Popular fleet management magazine, GreenFleet, has awarded Toyota its prestigious “Fleet Car Manufacturer of the Year”. GreenFleetevents Manager, Colin Boynton, said:
“Toyota has come back with a bang and thrust itself into the forefront of fleet managers’ thinking when it comes to fuel efficiency on a mass scale. With hybrid derivatives across the range and a hydrogen offering now, too, it is a worthy winner of the award”

Toyota is a very popular choice among fleet and company car buyers thanks to the low emissions, high specification and comfortable vehicles that tick all the right boxes when choosing a fleet vehicle. Hybrid models are extremely tax efficient and include the Prius, RAV4, Yaris, Auris, and of course the all-new C-HR.

Paul Van der Burgh, President & Managing Director of Toyota GB, said:
“It’s a genuine honour to have received each of these awards, not least because they provide independent recognition of the global efforts Toyota is making to develop cars that aren’t just kinder to the environment, but which meet people’s preferences for cars that are also practical, have lasting quality and are genuinely enjoyable to drive. That’s all part of our commitment to make ever-better cars, right across the board.”
