Toyota have today announced that they will become a sponsor of the England and Wales Cricket Board, with Toyota becoming the official car of England Cricket.
The partnership has been agreed on an initial 2 year term, and you’ll be seeing Toyota advertising hoardings at England Cricket venues around the country, as well as headline sponsorship of the international highlights package that airs on Channel 5 during peak times.
As part of the deal, England’s male contracted players will be driving a variety Toyota models including the famous Land Cruiser and RAV4 SUVs.
Matt Harrison, President and Managing Director of Toyota GB, said:
“Our partnership with the ECB is an excellent opportunity for us to support a fantastic sport that reaches millions of people. We’re proud to be backing England for every success this summer and beyond and providing its players and personnel with vehicles they can depend on”.
Sanjay Patel of the ECB was delighted with the new partnership:
“Ahead of a hugely exciting summer of cricket for the England team, we’re delighted to be entering into a new partnership with Toyota. They are a leading high profile automotive brand that continually strives for enhanced performance; a great fit for England cricket. The deal highlights the continued appeal England cricket brings to a variety of brands.”
This deal with the England Cricket Board is just one of the many sporting partnership ventures that Toyota have in place, having recently announced that they are to become a top-line sponsor of the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, as well as supporting the IAAF World Athletics Championships.
There is one catch however – Toyota are already an official partner of Cricket Australia! Perhaps this summer members of staff from Toyota GB and Toyota Australia should get together for their own version of the Ashes?
