Our first Staff Spotlight of 2016 is on Sales Executive Matt Fearn, who has been with the company for just over 2 years. Since joining Ron Brooks Matt has proved popular with staff members and customers alike, so we thought it was time for the spotlight to shine on him!
Job Title: Sales Executive
Dealership: Toyota Ilkeston
When did you start working for Ron Brooks?
May 20th 2013. I previously worked for a local used car garage for about 8 months before moving to Ron Brooks. In my first week I sold my first ever Toyota to Mr Stewart, who is a fireman in Ilkeston. It was a Chilli Red Yaris SR – a lovely looking vehicle it was too!
What’s your latest update?
I’ve just turned 26 and decided it was about time I became Motability accredited so that I can supply new Toyotas to those on the Motability scheme, so that’s my latest achievement at work. I’m also saving up to move into my own house and (most importantly) growing a beard.
What do you like about working at Ron Brooks?
I like the fact that it’s a family-run business, rather than part of a large group, I think it enables us to treat people as a real person and as a customer rather than just another number. I get on really well with the other members of the Sales Team – we are like a little family! I’m a local lad as well and I like having a new company car. Toyota is a good, reliable brand to work for and the products help us keep our customers happy.

What was your first car?
It was a 1-litre Vauxhall Corsa. Terrible car but insurance was really hampered my choices. I then moved on to an MG ZR which was even worse!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy socialising with my friends when I’m not at work. I’m a massive Derby County fan and I try to enjoy going to the matches but it’s not always that easy! I play pool and badminton every week as well as football occasionally – the matches between the Mansfield and Ilkeston dealerships are good fun and can get very competitive! I also have a passion for cars.
If we asked your colleagues to describe you, what would they say?
I would hope that they said I was kind, helpful, honest and hardworking, and also that I’d be in the running for best looking guy at Ron Brooks (definitely better than Liam Shorthouse anyway)!
To put that theory to the test, we asked Neil Haynes (Assistant Sales Manager) how he would describe you:
“He is conscientious, a charmer with customers (I wonder who taught him that!), and a key member of the Sales Team here at Ilkeston.”
