Staff Spotlight: Craig Hill

Name: Craig Hill

Job Title: Sales Apprentice

Dealership: Right now I’m going between both Ilkeston & Mansfield, learning from every member of both Sales Teams about customer service.

Latest Update: Soon I will be part of the launch of Ron Brooks Suzuki Mansfield, helping with the new & used car sales from the temporary showroom that has just been built.

Hobbies: I enjoy both playing and watching the beautiful game (football), and I’m an avid Derby County supporter. I am also involved with my local club, Heanor Town FC, where I help out with the reserves and under 18s. I’m also a qualified referee and have refereed Derby County Legends matches. The best match I refereed was at St George’s Park – the flagship England training centre.

When did you start working for Ron Brooks?

I started on May 5th 2009. I’ve just passed my 6th year at the company. I started as an Apprentice Administrator – answering phone calls and sending letters. Then I moved into Sales Administration on September 1st 2010 – the day the 60 plate was launched and we had around 30 new cars going out to customers that day. Talk about being thrown in at the deep end!

What was your first car?

A 1998 Ford Fiesta. I went into town to buy some trainers and somehow came back with a Fiesta. My next two cars (a Corolla 1.4 T3 3dr, and an Auris TR 1.6 3dr) were purchased from Ron Brooks Ilkeston. I am now running my second Auris Hybrid Touring Sports Excel, available for sale in December this year!

If I asked your colleagues to describe you, what would they say?

That’s a question you should be asking my colleagues. I’ve got no idea. I would hope they would say nice things about me.

Well we asked Rob Sanchez, Sales Executive, what he thought and he said: ‘A very generous, helpful and important part of the whole team. Especially since he came on board at Mansfield’.

We also asked Adam Lyons, HR Manager, and he said: ‘Friendly, always helpful and eager’.

What do you like about working at Ron Brooks?

I like the fact that it’s a family-run business, and a varied array of characters work here. I also enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories. I also really enjoy the outdoor shows that we do, such as Derbyshire County Show, Nottinghamshire County show and Cromford Steam Rally. I also take part in the 5-a-side football matches between Ilkeston & Mansfield – they’re always a laugh and they get pretty competitive too!

What did you do for Comic Relief this year?

Me and 10 others completed the well-known Yorkshire three peaks challenge, which is a 24 and a half hike up and down three massive mountains. We managed to raise Over £1,600 which contributed to the overall total of £12,500 which was a great result for Ron Brooks.
