A GOOD cause which received its first ever donation from Ron Brooks is now ready to start work on its first project.
A total of £1,800 was donated to Portland College to help fund a new Woodland Adventure Zone. The college provides support for education, employment and communication skills for people with disabilities.
The Adventure Zone is set to bring an exciting new element to the college offer, creating a full adventure experience with a climbing tower, 100 metre zipline, adventure trail, bike trail, along with areas for group/team building work, sensory activities and equipment for some outdoor sports.
All facilities will be fully accessible to people with disabilities, including wheelchair users, and to local primary schools, disadvantaged groups and for corporate team building days. At weekends the Adventure Zone will be open to the local community for families to enjoy a healthy, fun day out for just a small fee.
A spokesperson for Portland College said: “We are delighted to announce work will begin on the Woodland Adventure Zone in February, with the aim of opening in summer 2019.
“It is thanks to the overwhelming support from trusts, funds and businesses including Ron Brooks Toyota, who initially made a substantial donation of £1,800 who have made it possible to make the Woodland Adventure Zone a reality.
“Thank You, Ron Brooks Toyota”
A spokesman at Ron Brooks said: “It is with great pleasure that we can now start to see some fantastic work unfolding at Portland College.
“The work they do to help disabled individuals is phenomenal and we were pleased that our donation will help them to continue their activities.”
