The new 2017 Toyota Prius Plug-in goes on Sale 1st March 2017. Here we discover the full details of this fantastic new model from Toyota.
In the UK at least, Toyota was the first manufacturer to put a plug-in hybrid vehicle on sale with the original Prius Plug-in in 2012. The new 2017 model however represents a huge leap forward in terms of performance, handling and of course EV range.
Travel further on Zero Emissions
The new EV driving range for a fully charged Prius Plug-in is now 39 miles, and it can travel at speeds up to 83mph on electric power alone. A full charge takes 2 hours with a fast-charger or just over 3 hours with a standard UK wall socket. At launch, an offer is available to install a fast-charger at your home for free, subject to some terms and conditions.

Once the EV range has run out, the car reverts back to being a regular Prius hybrid, combining petrol and electric technology as efficiently as possible with no range anxiety.
Because of the extra EV range, the Prius Plug-in is rated with CO2 emissions of just 22 g/km and average fuel consumption of 282mpg.
New Features
The first fantastic feature of the Prius Plug-in, and a world-first for a production car, is the optional Solar Panel roof, which use energy from the sun to charge the batteries – increasing range by up to 3 miles per day! It works by charging an intermediate solar battery, which when full dumps the charge into the main hybrid battery.

Another brilliant feature is the air conditioning system, which can be set on a timer to pre-heat or pre-cool the car before you start it up – how cool is that?
