New 2016 Toyota Proace Van

Further details about the brand new 2016 Toyota Proace van have today been released by Toyota GB, as well as some first-look photographs.

On Sale April 2016

The all-new Proace van will go on sale at Ron Brooks Toyota dealerships in Ilkeston Derbyshire and Mansfield Nottinghamshire in April 2016, available through our Ron Brooks Business Centre whether your business is big or small.

Different Sizes, Different Shapes

Upon release, the Proace will be available in three different body sizes and two different wheelbase lengths and in 5 different types including panel van, glazed, semi-glazed, crew cab, combi and platform cab. Thanks to all these different choices, the PROACE van is more than capable in all areas of the ‘Medium Duty Van’ (MDV) marketing for the first time since its release in 2013.

New 2016 Toyota Proace Compact

Proace Van Compact

The shortest model in the entire MDV segment, the “Compact” Proace has a 2.9m wheelbase but measures just 4.6m long, giving it a super-tight 11.3m turning circle, making it perfect for use in urban environments. The Compact version will be available in panel, semi-glazed and glazed bodystyles, has three front seats and has a 2.1m (L) by 1.6m (W) cargo bay, giving a maximum load volume of 4.6m3.

Proace Van Medium

The medium version of the 2016 Proace Van measures 4.9m long in total and has a 3.2m wheelbase, giving it an additional maximum load volume of 5.3m3 thanks to a cargo bay that is 2.5 long (0.4m longer than Compact) and 1.6m. Medium-length Proace is again available in panel, semi-glazed and glazed versions, as well as crew cab, combi and platform cab.

Proace Van Long

The longest version of the Proace Van maintains the 3.2m wheelbase of the medium, but has an overall length of 5.3m long, 0.4m longer than the Medium-length Proace. This results in a load volume of 6.1m3.

Easy-access Doors

All versions of the 2016 Proace van get sliding side doors on both the left and right (which create an opening wide enough for Euro pallets), as well as side-hinged twin rear doors that open to 180 degrees on Compact and Medium and 250 degrees on Long for excellent and easy access to the rear.

An optional extra on all versions of the Proace is electrically-operated power sliding side doors.

Smart Cargo System

The new Smart Cargo System, which is optional on the Base grade but standard on the Comfort model, combines a front bulkhead opening with a passenger seat base that lifts up to increase the maximum load length by just over 1.1m on all three versions of new Proace. It also gives the Proace Compact best-in-class load volume of 5.1m3.

Maximum Payload & Towing Capacity

Maximum payload for the new Proace van range is up to 1,400kg, while the maximum braked trailer towing capacity is 2,500kg.

European Specification Confirmed, UK to Follow

There are two equipment grades for the van range, Base and Comfort, with Combi versions getting their own specification.

Base models include as standard three front seats, a driver’s seat armrest, central locking, cruise control, speed limiter, 12V power outlet in the dashboard, driver/passenger airbags and 16-inch steel wheels.

Comfort models get all of the above plus better sound insulation, driver’s seat heigh adjustment, cloth/vinyl upholstery, stereo radio, Bluetooth connectivity, USB, air conditioning, cooled glovebox, remote central locking as well as additional 12V power sockets in the glovebox and cargo area as well as the Smart Cargo system we mentioned earlier.

Proace Van Toyota Safety Sense

Optional extras include two levels of the Toyota Safety Sense Package, one which provides Lane Departure Alter, Road Sign Asisst, Driver Attention Alert and Automatic High Beam, while the second package adds Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian detection, Cornering Lights and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Optional Extras to Suit Everyone

There are plenty of useful optional extras on the new Proace van, including Keyless entry, Front/rear parking sensors, Rear-view camera and auto lights/wipers, all of which make for an easier life with your van. For a bit more street-cred (or building site-cred), customers are able to choose 17-inch alloy wheels, as well as side protectors, door handles & door mirrors that match the colour of the bodywork. Also available are Side airbags, Bi-xenon headlamps and fog Lamps.

Engines for the new Proace

Both 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre turbochanged diesel engines will be available in new Proace.

The 1.6-litre generates 94bhp and 210 Nm torque and has a 5-speed manual gearbox, emitting 144 g/km and achieving 51.mpg combined.

The 2.0-litre diesel is available in two states of tune, with either 120 or 148bhp and 340 or 370 Nm torque. The former manages 49.6mpg on the combined cycle while the latter manages 49.6. Emissions are 139 g/km and 143 g/km respectively.

Servicing intervals of 25,000 miles or 12 months ensures a low cost of ownership for the Business user.
