Toyota have released the first official pictures of the new 2016 Toyota Hilux ahead of its launch at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, one of the most prestigious events in the motoring calendar.
This all-new model will replace the current generation of Hilux, which has been on sale (in two different forms) since 2006. The entire vehicle has been redesigned from the ground up, with a new ladder-frame chassis that is, believe it or not, even tougher and more durable than the previous generation.

Toyota have labelled the new Hilux “ultimate embodiment of Toyota’s quality, durability and reliability” and will feature two new common-rail diesel engines, a 2.4-litre (which replaces the current 2.5 D-4D) and a 2.8-litre (which is also used in the new Land Cruiser), which replaces the 3.0 D-4D. The 2.8-litre is likely to be to most popular engine choice, and can be paired with either a six speed manual or 6 speed automatic gearbox. It will of course retain incredible off road ability thanks to switchable 4WD.
We’re really excited about this all-new model, which will be the eighth generation of this famous model since it first went into production way back in 1968. People who have owned a Hilux absolutely love the car’s reliability, durability, toughness and off-road capability. It became famous for its toughness thanks to an episode of Top Gear in which a sixth-generation was subjected to all kinds of abuse, only to refuse to die and started up even after being blown up inside a building that was being demolished.
That’s all the details we have at this stage, stay tuned to @RonBrooksGroup on Twitter and Ron Brooks Group on Facebook for more pricing and specification information as its released. The car is due to arrive in the summer of 2016 and will cement its place as the top-selling pick-up truck in the UK.
