New 2015 Toyota Avensis 2015 5 Star NCAP Safety Rating

The new fleet & family friendly Toyota Avensis has been awarded the full 5-stars for safety by crash test experts Euro NCAP. It’s the third time in a row that the british-built model has achieved such a score, even with ever more stringent rules being put in place by NCAP to make it harder to score top marks.

And it really did score top marks. The 2015 Avensis scored 98% for adult occupant protection, 85% for child occupant protection, 78% for pedestrian safety and 81% for “safety assistance features”. The car even scored maximum points in the side barrier-impact test, emphasizing the extreme quality and high standards to which Toyota make their vehicles.

The safety assistance features, known as Toyota Safety Sense, is standard across the Avensis range and includes an autonomous emergency braking system (which was singled out for commendation by Euro NCAP), Automatic High-Beam, Lane Departure Warning & Road Sign Assist.

Toyota Motor Europe Executive Vice President, Karl Schlicht, commented:

“We are very pleased with this result, which rewards our commitment to improve roadside safety and to make the latest technologies that contribute to this affordable and accessible for more customers.”

New Avensis moves in line with RAV4, Verso, Auris, Yaris & Prius in holding current 5-star Euro NCAP safety ratings. Toyota Safety Sense is also available on Auris, and has recently been made available to Yaris & AYGO customers too.
