Ron Brooks Group has taken the decision to install defibrillators at its Toyota dealerships in Ilkeston, on Derby Road, and Mansfield, on Oak Tree Lane, as part of its efforts to promote health and safety in the workplace.
The machines, Zoll AED Plus Fully Automatic defibrillators, are able to automatically deliver shocks to the patient’s heart once it has detected a suitable heart rhythm in the event of a cardiac arrest. The installation of these machines will provide invaluable help to customers or staff members if they were to suffer a heart attack while on the premises.
The company is also more than happy for other business/community groups in the area to use the defibrillator within the vicinity of the dealership if it can be of assistance to anyone in need.
Adam Lyons, HR Manager for Ron Brooks, said:
“In all honesty we hope we never experience a situation where we have to use defibrillators in the showroom, but we want to be prepared just in case”.
“It’s really a case of we’d rather buy them and never use them, rather than need them and not have them available. It could save somebody’s life one day.”

“It is part of our duty of care to protect our staff members and customers while they are on site.”
“We’re not a business that likes to only do the bare minimum so if we can put extra precautions in place in case of emergency then that’s what we should do. Hopefully we won’t have to use it but it’s good to know that we’re prepared. I would urge other car dealerships and businesses to do the same”.
