Ilkeston Classic Car Show 2016

The 2016 Ilkeston Classic Car Show, held in Ilkeston Marketplace, was again a roaring success with hundreds of cars and thousands of people turning out on Sunday to support this fantastic event.

White Toyota Crown

There were representatives from across the entire classic vehicle spectrum including buses, lorries, military vehicles and of course a wonderful display of classic & Vintage cars with everything from Fords, Datsuns, Porsches, Volkswagen, Minis and of course Toyotas.

As one of the main sponsors, we took our place at the event with a display of cars featuring the all-new Hilux and an AYGO x-pression x-wave. We were also privileged to have on our stand a mint condition 1982 Mk1 Hilux, which took pride of place and certainly drew in the crowds.

Mk1 Hilux

This incredible example of one of Toyota’s most iconic models is owned by Mitch Lewis, who kindly agreed to park the Hilux on our stand as a bit of a feature next to the brand new version which arrived at Ron Brooks last month.

Mk2 Hilux

This vehicle was owned for 29 years from new by a lady who ran a fruit farm, and it has covered less than 20,000 miles since it was registered 34 years ago. It has never had any bodywork done and is so clean it would not look out of place in one of our Ilkeston or Mansfield Toyota showrooms.

Best in Show

Winner for the “Best in Show” award, which is sponsored by Ron Brooks Toyota, was chosen by Digital Marketing Manager Nathan Dale and deservedly went to Chris and his wonderful 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville, which he has owned for 26 years. The standout nature of the car’s original design, combined with excellent bodywork and a bright paint job made this more than a worthy winner for 2016. Chris, the owner of the winning vehicle, unbeknown to the judges, used to work at Ron Brooks Ltd way back when we owned the petrol forecourt on Derby Road, next to our Ilkeston Toyota Centre.

Our thanks go to the Erewash Partnership for making the event such a success once again, and of course to Mitch for showing off his charming Mk1 Hilux on our stand. See you again next year!
