Head to Head: Toyota Hilux Vs Tamiya Bruiser

Little and Large! The all-new Toyota Hilux goes head to head with a Tamiya model 1/10th of the size in a series of short films created by Toyota GB.

The films, titled: Pull, Tow, Wade & Mud have been released today on Toyota UK’s YouTube channel, aiming to showcase the toughness & reliability of both the full-size and scale model Hilux.

In Pull, Toyota have attempted to recreate the famous PR stunt conducted by Tamiya in the 1980s where a bunch of Tamiya models pulled a full-size Hilux, demonstrating the genuine power of the scale models. Would the Tamiya Hilux Bruiser’s be able to pull it off again, given that the Hilux Double Cab now has a kerb weight of over 2,000kg? Watch the video below to find out.

In Tow, the Hilux demonstrates its impressive “Trailer Sway Control” while driving at speed through a slalom course, with the Tamiya Bruiser conducting the same test – without Trailer Sway Control, of course.

Wade showcases the brilliant wading capabilities of the Hilux, which has an impressive wading depth of 700mm and a 293mm ground clearance. It drives through the river with ease, while a standard Bruiser has a 50mm ground clerance and a 30mm wade depth.

Mud is a true demonstration of the incredible off-road abilities of both of these models, with both drivers having plenty of fun on the off-road course.
