Elliot Clogg updated 2022

Ron Brooks Group are proud to continue to sponsor UK Swimmer Elliot Clogg.

Here’s the latest update from Elliot’s family for the last few months. Well done Elliot, we’re very proud of your achievements!!

SEPTEMBER
Elliot returned to full training at the National Centre training healthy and without any interruption.
Elliot was selected to attend British Swimming’s 2-day National Relay Camp on the 29th/30th September which brought together the crop of funded and unfunded athletes likely to be pushing for places on the Team which went very well.

OCTOBER
Training has continued well with new pool and land tailored program for Elliot more aerobic based as opposed to anerobic. Mel set out competitions that Elliot should submit entries for before Y/E as follows: –
British Universities Short Course Championships 19th – 20th Nov.
English National Winter Short Course Championships 2nd – 4th Dec.
Scottish National Short Course Championships 9th – 11th Dec.
Mel has also set out Elliot’s targets for the next 2 years leading up to Paris: –
• To become the No 1 Ranked 100m Backstroker in Britain.
• To qualify for the Paris Olympics 2024.
• To also lead off the 4 x 100 Medley Relay in Paris.

NOVEMBER
Elliot travelled to Sheffield to compete for Loughborough in the British Universities Short Course Champs, events entered were the 50, 100, 200 back, 100 free and the 4 x 100 free relay.
On day 1, Elliot took part in the heats of the 4 x 100 free relay making the Final to be held the following day with a split of 21.67.
On Day 2, Elliot progressed from the heats to the A Finals in both the 50 and 200 back, in the evening Finals Elliot pulled out of the 50 to focus on the 200-back event and the relay event. It proved to be the right decision as Elliot took Gold in the 200 back, in a time of 1.54.11 and secured Gold with the team in the 4 x 100 free relay later that evening.
Day 3, Elliot progress from the heats of both the 100 free and 100 back to make both A Finals, in the 100 free taking Bronze in a time of 48.71 then finishing 4th in the 100 back with a time of 52.57.

DECEMBER
Elliot travelled to Edinburgh for Scottish Nationals Short Course Champs, events entered were the 50 back, 100 back and 100 free.
In the 100 free, Elliot progressed from the heats and finished 4th in the A Final finishing 4th posting a personal best time of 47.96 and dipping under 48 seconds for the first time which was pleasing. The following day was the 50 back event, again Elliot progressed from the heats to make the A Final and finished 5th with a time of 24.50.
The final day of competition was the 100 back, Elliot progressed from the heat to qualify fastest for the A Final with a personal best time of 52.10. In the final Elliot was pipped to 1st place by 0.07, but again achieved another personal best time of 51.80 dipping under 52 seconds for the first time.
Considering Elliot had to pull out of English Short Course Nationals the previous weekend, Elliot was very pleased with his performances at Scottish Nationals as was his coach Mel, it shows a sign that he is heading in the right direction given the personal bests achieved over the course of the weekend.
Elliot will be heading out to Australia on the New Year’s Eve with Mel and the rest of the squad (7), for a very important 6-week intense winter training camp. Adam Peaty, Luke Greenbank, Anna Hopkin, are already out there with Mel competing in the World Short Course Championships in Melbourne 13th – 18th December. Once again Elliot is extremely grateful for the support that enables him to continue to receive the same continued level of training as funded athletes.

Wishing you a great Christmas and Happy New Year in advance.
