Brailsford Ploughing Match & Show 2015

Yesterday we were at this year’s Brailsford Ploughing match and show. Held in Brailsford once again (it was based in Kedleston last year), the heavens opened the day before, on the morning and didn’t stop until around midday – resulting a tremendously muddy field for the 110th edition of this famous Derbyshire show. The location is believed to be the original venue of the show when it began in the year 1905.

The mud didn’t stop the Hilux and RAV4 however, both of which made it onto the stand without any trouble, thanks to 4WD technology. The PROACE van struggled a little bit but it was quite far out of its comfort zone.

That didn’t stop plenty of people turning out – a little bit (well, alot) of mud was not going to stop them enjoying the Ploughing Match and the trade stands on the show.

There was also a Royal visitor on site too – Princess Anne was a special guest at the show, and being a big horse enthusiast was keen to view the horses taking part in the traditional ploughing matches.

It was our last outing of the show seasons for the this year, and sadly the last outing for our instantly recognisable Show Unit, which is now for sale. Previously owned by Derbyshire County Council, the unit has covered a remarkably low 8,700 miles since it was registered in 2003. The converted Mercedes Sprinter 2.3 Diesel has been totally kitted out inside and includes lights, power sockets, sink, awning, seating area and plenty of storage space. It is priced at £10,000+ VAT. Call our Ilkeston dealership for more details.
